~ Charles F. Browne ~
Every year Warrensburg has a parade for the kids on the grounds of the Johnson County Court house and due to our travel limitations this year we thought what better way to instill American pride into our 2 year old than by constructing a patriotic float and entering him into a parade! Now, mind you, this is not just any float that we are talking about. This is a wagon turned into the great U.S.S. Brody with cardboard, 10 dollars worth of duck tape and a whole lot of passion from Daddy. Since the parade started at 10 in the morning on Friday, it only made sense to start the float at 10 o'clock on Thursday night! Bobby, bless his heart, was so consumed with constructing the perfect float for his son and worked like a mad man until 12:30 am when he announced to me he had to make a run to Wal-Mart to get a flag to place at the front of the ship!

After I informed him that he was outside his mind, and that Brody would be thrilled with his boat (albeit without a flag) somehow coerced him to come inside and go to bed... we had a big day ahead!
Brett and Layne came over for dinner and the boys bought fireworks... for the kids, of course! I honestly was nervous about how Brody would handle the fireworks, but he LOVED them. He kept saying, "Come on Daddy, Come on Brett" and would do the countdown for the fireworks. Once the colors blossomed across the sky he would proudly (and loudly) announce the colors! I could've watched his face all night. The next morning Brody woke up and ran to the window. He wanted to know where the fireworks were. I definitely have a new appreciation for fireworks!
